The registration rates for the SubOptic 2013 Conference have now been finalised and are similar to previous SubOptic conferences. They continue to offer excellent value for money and as a not for-profit organisation, SubOptic strives to maintain them at an affordable level to encourage participation at all levels and sectors of our industry.
Three price levels have been set and are shown below with the Early Bird Rate, which is now available offering a greater than 20% saving over our most expensive rate:
1500 Euro plus VAT: Early Bird - From November 2012 to 31st January 2013
1750 Euro plus VAT: On Time - 1st February 2013 to 31st March 2013
1950 Euro plus VAT: Latecomers and Onsite - 1st April 2013 to 25th April 2013
Registration Fee Includes:
- Access to all conference sessions, including the pre-conference workshops.
- Entrance to the Exhibition
- Lunch and coffee breaks on conference days
- Welcome Reception and Closing Gala Dinner
- Congress bag and electronic copy of Conference Proceedings
An Accompanying Person's programme is being arranged and further details will be found when registering.
SubOptic has negotiated a special discounted room rate with the Marriott Rive Gauche Hotel for conference registrants of 206.90 Euro (including breakfast and wifi access). This rate will be available for the weekend before and after the conference subject to availability.
The conference will start on April 23rd, 2013 and last three days. It will be preceded by a series of master-class tutorials which will be held on April 22nd, 2013.
It is the one event that encourages all people from the industry and community to get together and discuss issues that are critical to our business as demonstrated by the more than 160 abstracts submitted in response to our Call for Papers.
Our last conference SubOptic 2010 in Yokohama attracted more than 700 attendees from over 230 companies and our conference remains the only event organised by the industry for the industry on a non-profit making basis. It provides a meeting place for all strands of interest in the Undersea Optical Fibre Communications business.
The theme for SubOptic 2013 is ‘From Ocean to Cloud’ which is intended to cover not only the traditional topics that our regular conference attendees look forward to, but also new areas such as the impact mobile data generated by the smart phones and tablets will have on our networks, to how to achieve value from your investment, operator and service delivery and much more.
The seven topic areas below have been chosen by the SubOptic 2013 Programme Committee, based upon the experience from previous events. Papers for oral and poster presentation in these topic areas will be presented based upon the submissions made.

The third Keynote Speaker, presenting on April 25th, 2013 will be Emmanuel Desurvire. Emmanuel is the Scientific Director of Thales Reserach & Development in France and will talk about "How the EDFA came to be"
