Formed by Our Industry, for Our Industry

The SubOptic organisation exists to promote, foster debate, exchange ideas and act as an educational resource for the entire submarine telecommunications community.

With it’s first convention held in 1986, SubOptic is a non-profit, mutual, non-incorporated international organisation. It is steered and sponsored by leading members of the community. However, it is open to every level of our industry, from those who manufacture cables and their components to purchasers of cable networks and system capacity to business analysts and investors.

A Time of Enormous Potential

The products and work of our industry have helped shape our world, bringing instant communication to people across the globe. Yet, nearly 1 billion people around the world are still without the means to make a simple phone call. What's more, millions of people are using information services that require greater amounts of access and bandwidth to deliver important information. Our industry's challenge is to help improve access to modern information and communication technologies for some, and find better ways to protect or increase the capacity now available. To achieve these goals, we need a common focus. That's why the SubOptic Convention and the exchange of ideas that it promotes is critical to the continued success of our industry.
