The ICPC has over 120 Members from over 60 countries who are Submarine Cable Owners, Submarine Cable Maintenance Authorities, Submarine Cable System Manufacturers, Cable Ship Operators, Submarine Cable Route Survey Companies and Governments.. The purpose of the ICPC is to help safeguard the submarine cable portions of power and telecommunications networks from human and natural hazards. This is achieved by sharing expert knowledge and promoting ideas that are beneficial to the protection of submarine cable systems worldwide.

The ICPC website offers access to a wide range of information about submarine cables, cable ships and offers access to a range of recommendations. Some information is however restricted to its membership.
