Improving performance and supporting Canadian data residency as demand grows for locally hosted software
MONTREAL–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Pipedrive , the easy and intelligent CRM for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), has launched a new Canada-based data centre in Montreal, marking the addition of its seventh global hosting region. The new deployment improves performance and enables Canadian data residency for local customers. The launch follows Pipedrive’s recent expansion into Australia and reflects a broader shift toward regional infrastructure in high-growth markets, driven by increasing demand for both performance and local data hosting.
Hosted in the AWS Canada (Central) Region (ca-central-1) in Montreal, the new infrastructure reduces round-trip latency by approximately 15% as customer data is moved from the United States to Canada. This improves responsiveness for Canadian customers and removes reliance on cross-border data routing.
Pipedrive has also established a formal Canadian business entity, reinforcing its long-term commitment to the local market and partner ecosystem.
“A one-size-fits-all global model is no longer sufficient for markets like Canada, where performance and data location are becoming critical requirements,” says Joe Futty, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Pipedrive. “Canadian customers increasingly expect their software to perform locally and align with domestic data management standards. This investment ensures Pipedrive works seamlessly for them, both technically and operationally.”
Enabling access to regulated and enterprise markets
Previously, the need for cross-border data transfers created hurdles for organisations in highly regulated sectors. By hosting data in Montreal, Pipedrive removes a practical procurement barrier, enabling SMBs to compete for contracts that require local data residency.
The move directly supports compliance with evolving Canadian regulations:
Quebec (Law 25): Local hosting supports compliance with strict consent and cross-border transfer requirements under Quebec’s privacy legislation.
Financial services (OSFI B-13): The deployment aligns with regulatory guidance encouraging domestic data residency to manage operational risk.
Supporting growth in the Canadian market
Canada is an increasingly important market for Pipedrive as businesses continue to adopt digital tools to scale. The Montreal deployment becomes Pipedrive’s seventh global hosting region, expanding its infrastructure footprint across North America and Europe.
“Companies expect solutions that reflect how they operate locally,” adds Futty. “With data now in Montreal and a stronger presence on the ground, Pipedrive is positioned to grow alongside the Canadian business community.”
