Following the roundtable discussion at SubOptic Lisbon in June 2025, this group brings together industry leaders to conduct a deep study of all aspects of this critical submarine cable infrastructure.

Group Objectives
Explore the key objectives driving this working group's activities. These priorities shape the group's focus and inform the outputs and resources it produces for the subsea cable community.
Site & Route Planning: Develop best practice recommendations for cable landing station location and land route/backhaul infrastructure including guidelines on securing BMH and backhaul
Technical Standards: Define sizing, electro-mechanical specifications, recommended certifications for design and implementation and recommendations on securing unmanned and manned cable landing stations (CLS)
Future Planning: Establish guidelines for expansion planning and future O&M considerations, and for security audits
Industry Publication: Deliver draft recommendations by Q1 2027 and final publications by Q1 2028
