Why join this Working Group?

Building on the phase 1 study presented at SubOptic Lisbon, this Working Group provides a neutral environment to openly discuss all topics to tackle this critical issue topic for the benefit of the whole subsea community.

  • Shape the Future Model: Help define the contours of future marine maintenance arrangements across stakeholders, geographies, resources, and contractual considerations
  • Neutral Collaboration: Contribute to open discussion in a neutral environment alongside cable owners, ship owners, consultants, and regulators
  • Industry Impact: Devote expertise to an industry-critical topic that will benefit the entire subsea community

Group Objectives

Explore the key objectives driving this working group's activities. These priorities shape the group's focus and inform the outputs and resources it produces for the subsea cable community.

Geographical Review: Assess whether existing zone arrangements remain optimal for future global and regional needs

Resource Planning: Determine required resources including number, timing, and funding

Contractual Framework: Revisit geographical scope, contract duration, financial structure, and allocation of costs between participants

Industry Recommendations: Deliver preliminary findings by Q4 2026 and formal recommendations to the industry by Q2 2027
